1. Why is ALHA-RAKA founded?
There are several reasons why ALHA-RAKA was founded: All the personnel who work in Madani (community organizers, management and board) want to get involved and involve all the personnel carrying out the program in making highest decisions, We have fought for democracy and participation and encouraged the government and community to always be democratic and participative. Therefore, we encourage any other organizations (the government and community) to be democratic, our organization should be democratic in advance. The form of organization in Indonesia that enables to make our organization democratic is Association, because the highest decision is on the members’ hands. Organization in the form of foundation does not enable to be democratic since the highest decision is on the counselor’s hand, We become a part of the member group of alliance forums (in Jombang KRJB, in Kediri SRKB) whose members consist of organizations of association and it does not enable us (the form of foundation) become the members of alliance forums consisting of organizations of association

2. Who is the founders?

The founders of ALHA-RAKA are the community organizers work in the field to support the poor to fights justice, religious leaders those are working to develop ummah and parish to get better live, social economic consultants those are working to support people in the field to build up co-operative in order to provide bussiness modal easier. The founders are 22 people, 8 females and 14 males.

3. What is the vision of ALHA-RAKA?
The vision of ALHA-RAKA is “To create democratic/just social and gender structure, save environmental, resepct to human rights, with the result that the oppressed people has access and control to the resources of economic, politic and social-culture to assure their prosperity”

4. When ALHA-RAKA founded?
ALHA-RAKA was founded at November 2007, as the new organization form of the persons active in Madani

5. Where is ALHA-RAKA working with?
ALHA-RAKA works, for the time being, in four regencies in western of East Java. The four regencies are in area well known Matraman area. The regencies are Jombang, Mojokerto, Kediri and Madiun.

6. What is ALHA-RAKA doing?
We are organizing people on community-based to support people (especially the poor) to acces and to meet the need in economic, politic and social-culture domain. It means organizing we have done for any groups of communities (farmers, women, labors, small traders, young men) is always seen that the groups are in communities. Community can be seen as a structure with three elements, they are: population (number of people); habitats (areas and environments) and needs (anything to be achieved through activities of life). One community consists of many groups (farmers, women, labors, small traders, young men, pedicap drivers) who make mutual interactions with one another. We usually enter one of groups in one community. In this group we begin to make planning to solve basic problems or meet basic needs together. If this activity is carried out continuously (it’s already been proven in our experiences), it can strengthen solidarity and unity among the people in the group. The solidarity and the unity those will be used as an asset to fight for rights and greater justice. After the group has started to be well established, then from this group, a community starts to be established. The motivator of the group will be able to influence other groups to do the same thing in their groups, to solve problems and meet concrete needs together. Later on, they build solidarity and unity together among groups in one community to fight for their rights and justice.

7. With whom ALHA-RAKA work?
ALHA-RAKA works with the groups in the community (we get the meaning of community is a village or sub-village). The groups are farmers groups, youth people groups, women groups, small traders groups, pedicap drivers groups, traditional art groups, handcrafter groups. Whatever, if any question, we will proudly answer your question.
